HOW TO USE A PAD!

So, if you are like me, I didn’t know how to use or put on a pad when I first got my period (or moon as we like to say!). And even after wearing pads for years, I still didn’t know some helpful tips and tricks that we will share with you! MoonPads wants to make it easier for other first time menstruators so they all know what to do!

  • So, wearing a pad allows you to save your underwear and clothes from being stained. It also helps keep your body clean, and prevents infection. We never want to put dirty things up against our bodies, especially our vaginas because that can make you sick!
  • Pads prevent infections such as: Urinary Tract Infections: that cause painful urination and pain in the kidneys, Bacterial Vaginosis (BV): changing the PH/ chemistry of your body and causing abdominal pain,
  • To start, I recommend wearing dark underwear during your period. Dark colors stain less, and in the case that you might  leak, it will be much easier to wash out and not ruin your panties.
  • First step is to unwrap the pad,
    • TIP 1- you can save your wrapper to wrap your used pad in to dispose of it more hygienically!
  • Step 2: peel the paper off of the back of the pad and put the sticky side of the pad down on the center of the panties
    • TIP 2- if you are putting on a pad before bed or a nap, you may want to position the pad just a bit further back to catch any blood rolling back while sleeping
  • Step 3: Peel the paper off of the wings and wrap the wings around the sides of your panties.
    • TIP 3 - buy pads with wings to protect your panties and prevent leaks. Our moonpads all have wings.
  • Step 4: Once attached, pull on your panties with the pad on. Most women can wear a pad for 4-6 hours, or overnight for 8 and have great coverage, depending on the strength of their flow.
  • Step 5: When you exchange your pad for a new one, take the old pad and roll it up in the wrapper of the new pad, or bath tissue. It is important to never flush the pads or the packaging into a flushing water toilet. Unlike many other menstrual pad brands, our Moonpads are special because they are biodegradable. This means they can be buried in the earth and turned back into soil.
